How Sting Gloves Are Built

Competition Weight Accuracy

As an official World Boxing supplier, Sting manufactures their Competition Approved models to strict weight tolerances. A glove that is over-weight at the pre-bout inspection is a problem. Sting's manufacturing process is designed to reduce that risk by keeping competition gloves within tight weight tolerances.

Balanced Weight Distribution

Front-heavy gloves drag the hands down late in a round. Sting distributes the weight evenly across the hand and wrist. The hands stay up. Technique stays clean.

Hi Flow Core Padding

The padding is the product. The Hi Flow Core provides a soft, forgiving impact zone that absorbs shock without feeling dense against a sparring partner. Fit and feel: soft and accommodating. Built for the amateur circuit and the volume of sparring that comes with it.

Sting Sparring Glove Weight Guide

If you are purchasing the Armalite gloves for sparring, choosing the correct weight is critical for your partner's safety. In UK gyms, 16oz is the standard for adult sparring.

Your Weight Recommended Sparring Weight
Under 65kg (under 10st 3lb) 16oz standard; 14oz permitted at some gyms (coach approval required)
65–89kg (10st 3lb – 14st) 16oz
Over 89kg (over 14st) 16–18oz (follow your coach's guidance)

Frequently Asked Questions

The Competition Approved Gloves 2.0. Designed for sanctioned amateur competition and listed by Sting as World Boxing-approved. Available in regulation red and blue in 10oz and 12oz. Always check your event or club requirements before purchasing. Do not use them for sparring or bag work.
Yes. The Armalite is a solid entry-level glove from a competition brand. It handles daily bag work, pads, and sparring. The price point is accessible and the construction is built to last regular gym use.
For adult sparring in UK gyms, 16oz is the standard requirement. If you are buying the Armalite for sparring, select the 16oz version. The 10oz and 12oz Competition Approved gloves should not be used for sparring.
No. Heavy bag work compresses the padding in competition gloves and ruins their protective properties. They may then fail pre-bout inspections. Keep competition gloves for bouts only. Use the Armalite for training.
