Choosing for sparring

For adult sparring, 16oz is standard below 90kg, subject to your coach or gym’s rules. At 90kg and above, 18oz is standard, again subject to those rules. The 14oz exception is for adults under 65kg only when their coach or gym permits it. Choose a model intended for sparring as well as the correct weight.

The Rival RS11V Evolution is a dedicated sparring option with 50mm layered foam and a dual-angle V-Strap Wrist Lock 2 fastening. Strap or lace-up?

Hook-and-loop gloves suit sessions where you need to take them on and off yourself. Laces let you adjust the fastening along the wrist, but you will normally need someone to tie them. Cleto Reyes and Hit N Move ALL DAY offer both closure types in this range.
