What does horsehair padding feel like compared to foam?
Horsehair is firmer and more compact than foam. You feel more of the shot through the glove, which sharpens technique and rewards clean punching. It also breaks in over time and moulds slightly to your hand.
Are horsehair gloves suitable for sparring?
These are built for bag and pad work, not sparring. Horsehair compresses denser than modern foam, so it does not absorb impact in the way a dedicated sparring glove does. Use a foam-padded sparring glove for partner work.
Why are these only available in 14oz and 16oz?
These weights suit the glove's purpose: regular bag and pad training. Lighter weights are typically used for speed and competition, which is not what a horsehair training glove is designed for. 14oz and 16oz give you the protection and structure needed for daily training volume.
